Assignment 9 - Final User Study (Final Paper)

In this assignment, you will be running your subjects and analyzing results in a paper. The goal is to have an informative deliverable, and eventually you could expand on this paper for publication (or if non-academic, build a hi-fidelity prototype with functionality that makes it better than the competition!).

Final User Study (Final Paper)

You will run your testing plan using any surveys, questionnaires, and documentation generated from previous assignments. You will run this on 3-5 users (discount usability testing) Your end deliverable is a 4-8 page ACM research style paper(i.e. like the CHI papers you have been reading).

• You may use your previous results in your paper, that describe information from your preliminary study that informed your previous deliverable.
• You may use this as a template for writing your paper: Paper Template (You may use LaTeX as well). Modify it as you like (add subsections, new sections,e tc.)
• Some words of wisdom are to follow the paper format for what each section is asking for if you do not know where to start.
• Be precise. Anything that you did (such as data analysis) versus what your tool/software does.
• Cite other sources that you are referencing! (Use ACM Style citations, see papers we read in class for examples)
• To make my expectations completely clear, take a look at any of the papers that we have read this semester. They are largely well formatted and polished research papers. This is a research paper, not a sales pitch. It may include components and summaries of your course work, but the goal is to emulate a research paper.

Change Log, Guidelines, and update

Provide a list of changes if you have made any (If you did the radical revision, then your log will be empty). Also spend time updating your guidelines document from the previous assignment. If you have made any major changes in your assignment, include a brief paragraph or bulleted list as well.

Assumptions

Throughout your assignment, state any assumptions that you may have. In each catagory, the goal is that this is self-evident, but you may add additional information as you see fit.

Organization

Please use bulleted lists and tables where appropriate. Start to think of your deliverables as a blueprint, such that another team in the class could follow along with your project. Use pictures, video, and add elements as you see appropriate. Be sure to cite all references!

Grading Rubric and Submission

You will submit your homework as a pdf on Blackboard for the CS 5340 course. Please do not e-mail me your submission. You may use tools like Google Docs, Microsoft Word, or Libre Office to generate .pdf files for submission.

The following rubric will be used to evaluate your work:

• 60 pts: Is your paper 4-8 pages, contain at least 2 references, and has at least 1 screenshot?
• 40 pts: Polish - Was your paper easy to read, well presented, spell checked.
